Film: Street Moves

Directed by: Ross Harris

Liner Notes:

Thoughts on Street Moves. Active advertising with Steve Meyer.

I had heard about Steve’s work from friends, but never had any luck catching the man in action myself. When a friend stopped by and told me of a guy frantically air guitaring and spinning a spa sale sign in front of the local Del Taco, I knew it was time to roll. Steve was totally open to talking about his work on camera. So open that I could barely turn the camera on before he was laying out those pearls of wisdom and tales of suburban madness. The opening audio in the clip is the first recorded audio from the day. He was off and running. My background is music video, but I knew right away that the sounds of the street and Steve would be all the soundtrack necessary. The overwhelming reaction to the clip is that it’s a parody. A spoof. I wish I knew an actor that would give a performance like He gives every weekend. All day long. The idea of a curbside homage to Joy Division in the service of selling hot tub is so amazing to me. I became a fan. A fan with a decent camera. Steve came by a few weeks later and checked out the cut. Gave it the thumbs up. Hope you do too.
